Suji Ka Halwa Recipe Pakistani

Suji ka halwa is the most popular and quickest Semolina halva recipe that can make within 5 to 10 minutes. It's a roasted semolina dessert cooked with only sugar and milk, topped with nuts. Specifically prepared for special occasions like Eid, Ramadan, and festivals. I love to make it in breakfast to serve with Poori.

  • 1 tablespoon Clarified Butter/Ghee
  • 20 seeds Green Cardamom Seeds
  • ½ cup Sugar
  • cup Desiccated Coconut
  • 1.5 cups Milk

Instructions

  • In a pan, add clarified butter/ghee and heat it up a bit.

  • Then add Semolina (suji) and roast it in ghee until it gets aromatic.
  • As the Semolina starts roasting, add sugar to caramelise with it.
  • Keep stirring the pan otherwise, semolina (Suji) will burn as the suji burning process is quite high.

  • Stir the pan for 2 to 3 minutes on low medium heat.

Notes

  • Make Halwa on low heat
  • To make in huge quantities multiply the ingredients accordingly.
  • Always roast the semolina on low flame. Keep stirring while roasting. Otherwise, it will start to stick on the pan bottom and give a burnt flavor in halwa.
  • Use a nonstick pan to make halwa. Avoid pans that can easily stick the semolina on pan bottoms.
  • Use food color if you want to give it a color. You can use edible orange or yellow color.
  • Saffron can also be used to give zafrani color to halwa or make it without color.
  • You can make the halwa with milk or water. Make your choice accordingly.
  • Quickly stir the halwa after adding water or milk.
  • Granulated sugar can be used to make halwa otherwise you can use sugar syrup (sheera).
