Notes

  • Toast the bread slices as it will add a nutty, sweet, and toasted flavor in halwa.
  • Monitor the ratio of sugar and water to make sugar syrup. Especially if you are using sweet bread.
  • The role of sugar syrup consistency and thickness is important to create the formation of halwa. If there is more syrup in halwa then bread will be more sweet and runny in texture. In the same way, if there is less sugar syrup then it may be hard. Use the semi-thick syrup that bread should fully absorb.
  • Don't prefer oil to make this halwa.
  • Don’t overcook the halwa otherwise, it left a burnt taste.
  • To make it tastier, you can sprinkle a pinch of cardamom powder.
  • Bread halwa with milk powder has a different taste as compared to making halwa with water.
  • Cooking halwa on low heat with ghee makes a perfect flavor that pairs so well with nuts.
  • If you are using leftover bread then microwave for a minute before use to make it soft and spongy.
  • Roasted nuts make a perfect flavor and crunch in halwa that tastes so good.
  • Use any type of white milk bread to make this halwa.
  • Monitor the sugar content if you are using sweet bread.
