Notes

  • Adjust sweetness to taste: Start with 2 tablespoons of Rooh Afza for every 500 ml of water. Taste and adjust—some prefer it lighter, others more concentrated.
  • Use ice-cold water or pre-chill the jug: For an ultra-refreshing drink, use water that’s been refrigerated for a few hours or mix and chill the drink before serving.
  • Soak basil seeds ahead of time: Basil seeds (Tukhm Balanga) need at least 15–30 minutes to fully swell, but soaking them for 1–2 hours gives the best texture.
  • Add lemon gradually: Fresh lemon juice adds a nice citrusy balance, but too much can overpower the rose flavor. Start with a few drops and build up as needed.
  • Make a big batch: Hosting guests or preparing for iftar? You can make a large jug of Rooh Afza drink in advance and keep it chilled in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
  • Turn it into a fancy cooler: Serve in tall glasses with lemon slices, mint sprigs, and chia or basil seeds for a festive and visually appealing drink.
  • Try milk for a creamy twist: Swap water for cold milk to make a creamy Rooh Afza milk drink—perfect for kids or dessert-style beverages.
  • Avoid carbonated drinks: This version is made without soda or fizzy drinks, making it a healthier and gentler option for hydration.
