    Bread Halwa Recipe

Bread halwa is the easiest sweet bread recipe that people love to eat all across India and Pakistan. The recipe has been prepared using 5 ingredients but the way it is cooked is a surprise as it amazingly enhances the flavor of bread that you will feel once you eat. As it’s a widely acceptable recipe so every region makes it according to their taste. Like; prepare bread halwa with milk or without milk, with khoya or without khoya, and with variations of different nuts.

Here is the traditional style bread halwa recipe that is common in Indian desserts. When I was kid, my mother used to make this halwa with leftover bread slices and we all like it and sometimes take it to school in lunch box. There is no rocket science to prepare this simple halwa recipe only you need bread slices, sugar, clarified butter (ghee), and almonds. The only trick is the process of making that makes it super scrumptious.

Last year, my Indian friend from Bombay sent me a bread halwa tray in Ramadan which was near to the taste of wedding style halwa. I was so excited to ask the actual recipe so she told me this one. I tried and it was awesome. My 8 years old love it and ate in no time.

Indian dessert recipes comprise on long list but in quick dessert, I want to list it at number 2 after suji halwa.

    Easy Tips

    • Toasted bread makes a perfect sweet and nutty flavor in halwa.
    • Use proper ratio of sugar syrup and bread. So the bread can easily soak the syrup to form a halwa. If there is more sugar syrup then it will become soft and thin in texture. If the syrup is less then the bread will be hard and stiffy.
    • Don’t use oil to cook halwa. Always use butter or ghee as it add lubrication and bind the halwa so well.
    • Don’t overcook the halwa otherwise, it left burnt taste.
    • To make it tastier, you can sprinkle a pinch of cardamom powder.
    • Bread halwa with milk powder has different taste as compare to make with water.
    • Cooking halwa on low heat with ghee makes a perfect flavor that pairs so well with nuts.
    • If you are using leftover bread then microwave for a minute before use to make it soft and spongy.

    Variations

This recipe follows traditional style bread halwa without milk but there are many other ingredients that you can add to add more flavor in this halwa recipe according to your taste.
