How to Boil Kidney Beans

- Soak the kidney beans (rajma) for 5 to 6 hours. (Soaking is a process to keep beans in water for a long time)
- After soaking, rinse and wash with tap water.
- Now place in a deep pan and fill with water. If you are taking 2 Cups beans then add 4 cup water to boil properly.
- For 500 gms soaked rajma: add salt (1 heap Tsp) and baking soda. (⅓ Tsp)
- Cover for 45 minutes on low medium heat. (If you are boiling in pressure cooker then check after 30 minutes).
- Check the softness otherwise give it more time to get soft and tender.
Can I Use Canned Kidney Beans?
Yes, you can use but fresh is more recommended as compared to canned. But if you are using canned beans then simply wash it and keep it in a pan. Add some water and boil it for few minutes then add little oil and mix it well. Now you can follow the same procedure to make the salad.

- Red Kidney beans - 2 Cups (boiled)
- Onion (thinly sliced) - 1 Tbsp
- Tomatoes (Chopped) - 1 Medium Size
- Green Chilies - 1 (Chopped)
- Lemon Juice - 1 Tbsp
- Low-fat Yogurt - 2 Tsp
- Salt - To Taste
- Red Chilli Powder - 1 Tsp
- Chaat Masala - 1 Tsp
- Potatoes - 1 (diced)
- Fresh Coriander - Few leaves (Chopped)
How to Make Rajma Salad
- Soak the beans (2 Cups) for 5 to 6 hours.
- After 6 hours, rinse and wash properly.
- Shift the rajma in the pan and add half-filled water in pan.
- Now add salt (to taste) and baking soda (½ Tsp).
- Cover and cook properly for 45 minutes in a regular pan.
- Start making Salad: In a bowl, add kidney beans (rajma).
- Now add thinly sliced onion,
- Also, add diced tomatoes (peel the skin and remove seed)
- Now add lemon juice and green chilies.
- Add salt, red chili powder, and chaat masala.
- Now add yogurt just to add a creamy look.
- Sprinkle freshly chopped coriander.
- Now mix all the ingredients and serve!
