Previously, I shared stovetop brownies that you loved by heart. So, I continued my passion to make baked cookies without oven.

In my cookies and biscuit recipes, I love these vintage style cookies prepared with chocolate flavor. Extremely moist, chewy and fudgy in taste.

Cookies can be prepared in different style by adapting different methods. These types of stovetop cookies are easy to make and recommended for vegetarians and people having a hard time with the oven. All Purpose flour (Maida) - 1 Cup: Baking is delicate process so use good quality flour as it will help to make perfect cookie texture.

Butter - 1 Tbsp: Will lubrication and make it flaky. Use unsalted butter.

Cocoa Powder - 1 Tbsp: Will add chocolate flavor in cookies.

Sugar - ½ Cup: Thin granulated sugar used. Powdered sugar can also be used to make smooth texture of cookies.

    How to Make Stovetop Cookies

    Preparation of Chocolate Cookie Dough

In a bowl, sift all purpose flour (maida), cocoa powder, baking powder, sugar and vanilla essence. Gradually add milk to form a soft dough.

Cover the bowl and rest the dough for 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes, make a thumbprint on cookies by watching steps in the video. Just take a small portion of dough in hand and make a ball then add a thumb mark in the middle of a cookie.

Set the Pan to Make Cookies on Stovetop

Preheat the deep pan on stovetop. Add some water to make it boiling/steamy. Place any stand in the middle of the pan to avoid direct heat to cookie pan as the direct heat can burn the cookies.

Place the cookies pan over the stand inside pan. Cover the pan tightly and bake the cookies for 20 to 25 minutes. (Watch the video tutorial for quick understanding).

After 20 minutes, check with a knife. Prick the cookies with a knife and if it comes out dry then take it out and cool it down.

Remove cookies from the mould and separate hands. Chocolate cookies are ready! Serve cookies with hot coffee or Karak tea.

You can also store the cookie dough in refrigerator for 4 to 5 days. It will help to save the time in kitchen and you can easily bake fresh cookies as you want.

    Q & A

What type of pan is needed to make stovetop cookies?

As per my experience, nonstick is best. Avoid steel and aluminum, copper and titanium as it will burn out easily. If you have iron pan then use as it's more preferred and easily handle heavy heat. Use any deep pan with heavy body!

How many cookies can I make on stovetop?

It depends on your pan size and baking dish. If you are using big size deep pan that can adjust the big baking dish then you can make many at one time. Overcrowding the cookies in baking dish can ruin the cookies texture. Always place cookies with some distance in baking dish as it will get puffy and increase the size while cooking.

Can I Make Other Cookie on the Stovetop?

Yes, you can make variety of cookies on stovetop. Not only cookies, you can also make stovetop brownies, cakes and other type cookies. People used to make stovetop chocolate cookies as it comes out in perfect chewy texture.
