If you have experienced the flavor of biscuits dunked in tea then these biscuits are for you. Karachi biscuits are purely prepared with flour, butter, sugar, custard powder, and packed with the small chunks of candid fruits famous as tuitty fruiti. Many people call it tuitti frutti cookies but in market you can take it with Karachi bakery biscuits name.
Karachi biscuits is the famous product of Khanchand Ramnani who migrated to Hyderabad, India from Karachi during partition. In 1953, established Karachi bakery showcasing the variety of biscuits which are still famous and people ask for it all around the world.

Previously, I shared the recipe of Nankhatai cookies, and after that, I tried Karachi biscuits recipe at home and it was successful as the taste and texture was up to the mark. I wish, I can send you these cookies to taste. Literally, my cookie jar was finished within one day.
I love to bake! and cookies are the easiest so tried different types of cookies at home but it was the first time, I was using custard powder in my cookie recipe. I wasn’t sure about the taste after baking. Believe me, the taste was superb and makes it different from other cookies and biscuits. Fruity aroma of pineapple essence and tutti Frutti spread throughout my whole house to register the cookies baking.
What is Tutti Frutti?
It’s a colorful candid fruit prepared with dried papaya, figs, raisins, and some other tropical fruit options. Artificial flavoring gives it a nice taste and aroma. It has a soft, spongy and rubbery texture that blends so well with cookies, biscuits, ice creams, and decoration of desserts.
The recipe of Karachi biscuits is easy, and anyone can make it easily at home. I think you must have all the ingredients in your pantry just make a check on tutti Frutti and pineapple essence as it will make the actual shape and presentation of Karachi style biscuits.
Ingredients
Butter (unsalted) 2 tablespoon | ½ Cup Powdered Sugar (White) | 2 cups All purpose flour (Maida) | 1 tablespoon Semolina | 1 Pinch Baking Powder | ½ cup Custard Powder (Vanilla) | ⅓ teaspoon Green Cardamom (powdered/coarsely ground) | ⅓ teaspoon Pineapple essence | ⅓ cup tutti frutti
How To Make Karachi Biscuits
Preparation of Biscuit Dough
In a deep bowl, add ½ cup powdered sugar and 1 tablespoon butter together and whisk it with an electrical beater to make it soft and fluffy in texture.
Then sift the 2 cups all purpose flour, 1 tablespoon semolina, ½ cup custard powder, ⅓ teaspoon of green cardamom, a pinch of baking powder, and ⅓ teaspoon of pineapple essence in the same bowl of sugar butter mixture.
Add tutti frutti and whisk it well to combine all ingredients and make a soft dough using hands.
Now place the dough on plastic wrap and give it a long flat shape using hands.
Tightly wrap the biscuit dough with plastic film and place it freezer for an hour to get tight and hard. After 01 hour, take it out and remove the plastic and give it a sliced cut.
Baking
Preheat the oven at 180°C or 356°F. In the meanwhile, line the parchment paper and place the cookie slices with some distance.
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until it gets golden from the bottom.
Take it out and give it 10 minutes time to settle the cookie crisp before serving.
Enjoy with tea or coffee.

Easy Tips
- Semolina used in this recipe to add crunch and make an extra crispy and flaky texture of cookies. Don’t over-exceed the amount as it may flatten the biscuits while baking.
- Custard powder used with vanilla flavor. Other flavors of custard may change the taste of cookies.

How to Store
You can store the biscuits in 2 ways:
- Store the baked biscuits: As it comes to room temperature, then store it in air tight glass jar. Make sure to tightly cover the lid otherwise, the atmosphere air can make it soggy.
Storage time: 2 Weeks (at room temperature). Keep in a cool place but don’t place it in the refrigerator or freezer. Don’t store longer as it’s not carried preservatives.
- Cookie dough storage: You can easily store the cookie dough in freezer for 01 month. When you need, just take it out and keep on room temperature until it become soft to get a nice cut. Then bake it accordingly.
