    Finding Good Potatoes for Frying

How to deep fry perfectly without deep fryer.

    Air Fryer Potato Cheese Balls

Preheat air fryer at 390 F for 10 minutes. Properly brush or spray oil at air fryer tray and place all the balls with some distance. Don't overcrowd!

Generously spray oil on all the balls and air fry for 10 to 15 minutes. After 6 to 7 minutes, change the sides of the balls to get an evenly brown color.

    Tips and Variations

    1. The quality and texture of potatoes makes a big role for a successful recipe. So first and prior area to make this recipe is to get the starchy potatoes as they are good for frying and always retain the perfect frying color.
    2. Avoid to over boil the potatoes as they will be mushy in texture.
    3. Prick the potatoes before boiling. This step will make them perfectly tender from inside.
    4. Avoid using big chunks of veggies.
    5. Don't over-spice the mashed potatoes. Less is tastier!
    6. You can change the seasoning as per your taste.
    7. If you don't want to use mozzarella then replace with cottage cheese, cheddar, or any other cheese of your choice.
    8. Don't fry cheese balls at high temperature as the balls may turn dark.
    9. Fry potato cheese balls at medium temperature to make them crispy.
    10. Place on absorbent paper right after frying and never cover to avoid soggy balls.

    Serving Ideas

Potato cheese balls are extremely delicious but you can improve the taste by adding different sauces. Try with: Honey garlic sauce, nacho sauce, green chutney, tamarind chutney or simply with ketchup.

If you are planning a party then it's the best party food along with mac and cheese, potato gratin, and creamy mushroom chicken pasta.

    Notes

    • Always consider potatoes with high starch as it gives better result after frying.
    • I personally prefer to take russet potatoes. Alternatively, Yukon gold is good.
    • Starchy potatoes are good in taste and always retain even frying color.
    • Never mash potatoes in machine otherwise it will turn to a creamy texture and become difficult to maintain balls without adding any binding agent.
    • Use big size of cheese inside potato balls if you want melting and bursting cheese effect.
    • Properly coat the balls with all purpose flour and breadcrumbs for crispy and crunchy frying.
    • Always fry potato cheese balls at medium temperature.
    • Never cover balls right after frying as it will get soggy.
