    About This Recipe

Today sharing one of my favorite Aloo Tikki Recipe Pakistani style that you can serve as a snack or side dish with the main course. It's a super easy and quick recipe also famous as Potato tikki, aloo ki tikiya, alu tikyan, or aloo patties. Basically, it's a form of aloo kabab prepared with finely mashed potatoes, spices, and herbs. Roll in a form of kabab or patty and then shallow fried to get a golden brown patty.

It's a famous dish of the subcontinent, people from India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh love to make different styles of aloo tikki by adding variations in spices and herbs. It's a vegan recipe with gluten-free ingredients.

This recipe will give you the crispy and crunchy texture of Tikki after frying. I personally love to make it as a party dish and one of the hot favorite recipe of my friends. Best to serve with green chutney, sweet and sour imli ki chutney.

You know, why I love this recipe; because it can be prepared ahead of time. Whenever I plan a menu for a family get-together or party, I prepared tikki before a day and stored it in the freezer to fry right before serving.

Every Pakistani and Indian house loves to have aloo tikki. I personally make it in bulk and store in a refrigerator for 15 to 20 days. When I need it, take it out defrost in microwave, and fried it to serve. My son likes to pair up with tomato sauce and sometimes I make aloo paratha using the same Tikki so it's a multi-purpose recipe that you can use to create different dishes.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Why tikki break or fell apart in oil?

Make sure to fry tikki in nonstick pan. It will really help you if you are a beginner and having a tough time getting the best Tikki result. Also, don't add much oil to the pan. Shallow frying or pan-frying will be best to make the Tikki intact in shape. If you are coating with breadcrumbs or flour then you can deep fry. Make sure the oil is hot when adding Tikki. Don't cook Tikki on high heat otherwise, it will cook from upside and give a raw feeling while eating.

Best Potatoes to Make Aloo Tikki?

American russet potatoes are good to use as it's starchy and always gives you best taste. In UK, you can use Yukun or King Edward. In India, Pakistan or other countries of South Asia, use any starchy or seasonal potatoes but avoid meetha aloo.
