How to Find the Best Camera for Food Photography - Hinz Cooking

Published: Jul 21, 2018 by Hinz

Some days back when I started my cooking channel, I was curiously searching 'how to find the best camera for food photography' and believe me I invest my time to look into different products that people use for food photography. Not only this, I also watched so many videos related to 'food photography' and I learned a lot.

To be very honest, initially, I don't have the expertise to manage camera like a professional to capture my videos and take amazing photos but I had cooking experience of 15 years that pushed me to start a cooking channel. So, I learned about it.

Today, I am writing this post as I know many people who want to start food business like a restaurant, blogs, cooking channels and others should be interested to know about the best camera for food photography and vlogs.

To be very honest, when we first look into the market to find the best camera then we found so many products of different range so it becomes difficult to make a choice especially if you are within budget.

I tried to make it simple for you to share my best practices. Here, I'd like to share that I am not a professional photographer but I am learning with my practices and daily work that I do to capture my videos and food pictures.

    Learn Before Using Lens...

So, what I conclude here, whatever the camera that you have; there are some techniques that you need to learn before carrying the camera to capture. There is no doubt that the camera plays an important role to take an amazing picture and shoot videos but a normal camera can do a lot if you have some basic skills to shoot. Even you can shoot high-quality videos and take pictures using your phone.

    You know, what I mean?

Let me share an example; you simply have a glass of water that you want to shoot. So first, you have to think like a pro to build a concept in your mind like how to take the glass picture that can make it unique and creative.

So, we need to focus on 3 areas:

    1) The Picture Background

    2) Light Source

    3) Camera Angle

If you are able to make your mind in these 3 areas then it will be quite easy for you to take amazing pictures from any simple camera lens that you use.

Here are some Food Photography Tips that will help you to take great photos like a professional.

Ok, so now we are ready to know more about contemporary camera technology recommended by the professionals. For this, I will suggest you invest in a DSLR camera that will make your life easier.

You can find some good and fully functional Camera options in Nikon, Canon, and Sony products.

Here are some camera recommendations that you can also check.

    • Nikon D750 FX-format Digital SLR Camera Body

    • Sony RX100 IV 20.1 MP Premium Compact Digital Camera

    • Canon PowerShot G7 X Digital Camera - Wi-Fi Enabled

    Quality Tripod is GREAT Help:

It's recommended to fix your camera on a comfortable, adjustable and quality tripod. It will help you to take a picture and capture videos with perfection. By using a tripod, it will give you sharp, focused and quality image.

In tripod range, I love AmazonBasics 50-Inch Lightweight Tripod It's good to carry and adjust on different locations. I look around some other models but some are heavy and difficult to manage for me.

Disclosure: Some links above may benefit me financially either by you being kind enough of buying one of my products or some recommendation where I may receive a small commission.

    Video Editing Software:

After capturing the videos, I normally use Adobe Premiere Pro for video editing. It's good and packed with so many functions and features that make me easy to edit my videos in no time.

For graphics, I take help from Dillenium Marketing as a parent company to work on my graphics for blog or Youtube. Also, take help from Etsy shop of Graphics Design Artist to create graphics for my blog in economical range. My food blog logo has been designed by them.
